Protocols: Serial/SMTP.
Devices: Modem / Intranet.
This MAIL DDE Server is unlike any other on the market. This server was written with the Wonderware IO server Toolkit. It is designed exclusively as a DDE Server :
- NO User interface for sending messages.
- NO Popup error messages
- DDE interface for all actions (Sending, acknowledging etc)
This is important in maintaining a robust system on remote sites where there is no User to maintain the DDE Server. Each type of Mail service queues and manages all messages to be sent. A single or multiple PC Comm. ports with modems can be used. The DDE Server communicates as follows:
- E-Mail: Email may be sent via Standard Windows Dialup Networking connection or Intranet connections that use the SMTP protocol.
- Paging: the DDE Server uses PET protocol (also termed TAP and IXO ) to send messages to alpha-numeric pagers.
- SMS: SMS messages are handled in the same way as Paging Messages

The DDE Server provides a convenient 'Contacts' list to manage the destination for all recipients. This allows the client application to send messages to contact Names ( and Groups ) rather than a specific address. |
